Libby Quintana almost didn’t enter the Louisiana Weight Loss NOW Challenge (she had to write a 150 word essay why she felt she should be chosen) because she had just lost her job and was under a lot of stress. She knew that in the past she had always turned to food for comfort when she was under stress and she wasn’t sure this would be a good time for her to focus on weight loss. However, faith played a part in her decision to enter the Challenge.
I had never met Libby, but we happen to attend two different meetings in the same week. The first meeting was a Business Networking group, BNI, that I am a member. Libby attended in hopes of finding employment. At this meeting, I announced the first ever, Linda Allred Louisiana Weight Loss NOW Challenge. Then later that week, Libby attended a Women’s Council of Greater Baton Rouge, MarketPlace meeting. When she walked in she saw me and discovered that I was the featured speaker. After the meeting, she told me “Linda, I was undecided whether to enter the Challenge or not, but seeing you two times in the same week, I think the Universe is sending me a powerful message.” She went home that night and entered the Challenge. Wow! I truly believe when we are ready for the lesson, the teacher shows up. You can see a powerful video of her personal story here.
Libby recently told me that she is so thankful that she decided to enter the Challenge because not only is she losing weight and learning to eat healthier, she also feels that learning to practice self-hypnosis, which is a natural “stress releaser,” is helping her cope with the stress of looking for employment and most importantly, her “emotional eating.” Here is an overview of what Libby has to say about her weight loss journey since she started the Louisiana Weight Loss NOW Challenge July 9th, 2009.
7/20/09: Currently reading Chapter 1 and 2 in my - Weight Off NOW Self-Hypnosis Home Study System™.
Positive changes I have noticed:
- I am eating less and have stopped drinking sodas.
- I am also drinking more water and have lost 2 pounds.
Challenges that I am facing are:
- trying to get enough rest, and
- learn to relax more
7/27/09: Reading Chapter Two in my Weight Off NOW Self-Hypnosis Home Study System™.
Positive changes I have noticed:
- Not as interested in junk foods or bread as I was before I started the Challenge
- Lost 5 more pounds and can feel my clothes getting looser
The challenges that I am facing now are:
- Get more sleep, and
- I do not want to workout
8/3/09: Reading Chapter Three in my Weight Off NOW Self-Hypnosis Home Study System™.
Positive changes I have noticed:
- Not eating as many sweets
- I have lost an additional 2 pounds and,
- I have increased my water by 8 oozes
The challenges that I am facing now are:
- I cannot make time for a “time out”
- I need to set up a meditation spot in my home.
8/17/09: Presently working Chapter Four and Five in my Weight Off NOW Self-Hypnosis Home Study System™.
Positive changes I have noticed:
- I am eating more salads
- Choosing smaller portions, and
- I have more interest in eating vegetables
The challenges that I am facing now are:
- I need to remember to listen to my self-hypnosis/positive affirmations CD’s at night that go with my Weight Off NOW Self-Hypnosis Home Study System™.
- Do not eat in my new car, and
- Eat regular meals

Great to hear that you bumped into my website and discovered that your friend, Libby Quintanna, is one of my lucky ladies participating in the Louisiana Weight Loss NOW Challenge. I saw Libby last night at Bert Fife’s, Women’s Week Celebration event, and she was telling everyone that she has now lost 19 pounds, and for the first time in her life she has found a weight loss program that is really working for her.

Hi everyone – Well, I have been changing several things in my life since I started the WON Challenge. Social Networking and Blogging are two of them. I have found that the more people I share my story with, the more people want to know what I’m doing. I am hoping that through sharing my progress others will be inspired to take charge of their health and lose weight now.
Since the Challenge began I have discovered several ‘aha’ moments. I have noticed that I have made decisions about food or my general health that was very different from my old behavior. The ‘aha’ came when I realized that I made those decisions from a subconcious level. Like having a sandwich for lunch and not adding chips. Or preferring to have plain water with my meals instead of my usual soda or tea. The best ‘aha’ for me has been the that I am not struggling with these decisions. They, for the most part, are effortless.
Linda’s Self-hypnosis Home Study System has been terrific in helping me push on day by day. I look forward to seeing ‘less’ of me over the next few weeks.
